EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Kris Davis scored 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field to lead SIU-Edwardsville to a 69-65 victory over Austin Peay on Thursday night.
Davis' 18 point effort ties him with Kenny Stanley for sixth on the SIU-Edwardsville all-time scoring list with 1,171 points.
With SIU-Edwardsville leading 62-59 with 3:09 remaining, Donivine Stewart made a driving layup that sparked a quick 6-2 scoring burst for the Cougars, capped by a Davis dunk, that pushed their lead to seven. Austin Peay got no closer than five the rest of the way, as a Davis free throw with 22 seconds left put the game away.
Keaton Jackson added 13 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks for the Cougars (8-10, 4-3 Ohio Valley Conference).
Josh Robinson had 17 points to lead Austin Peay (6-13, 1-4). Chris Horton and Ed Dyson each added 15 points.
