OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Morgan William drained a step-back jumper with four seconds to play to snap a tie and give No. 18 Mississippi State the edge it needed to beat Ole Miss 64-62 on Thursday night.
William made back-to-back layups with 4:58 left for a six-point lead, but the Bulldogs did not score another field goal until William's game-winner. Ole Miss slowly chipped away at the difference, and Shequila Joseph split a pair of free throws to tie it at 60-all with one minute remaining. Two free throws from Victoria Vivians and a Danielle McCray basket kept the score tied with 14 seconds left.
William finished with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Breanna Richardson scored 16, Martha Alwal had 14 and Vivians chipped in 10 for the Bulldogs (20-2, 5-2 SEC).
A'Queen Hayes led the Rebels (14-6, 4-3) with 12 points, and Tia Faleru added 11 rebounds.
