MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — An Arkansas university administrator has been tapped to serve as president of Faulkner University.

University officials say Vice President of Advancement at Harding University Mike Williams will begin his term as Faulkner president on June 1. Officials say the university's current President Billy Hillyer is becoming the university's chancellor.

Chairman of the university's Board of Trustees Bud Stambaugh says Williams was chosen in part because he led a fundraising campaign at the school in Searcy, Arkansas that raised $129 million, surpassing the school goal of $105 million.

Officials say Williams worked at Harding for 28 years in various capacities.
