COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Greg Burks, the referee for the inaugural CFP national championship between Ohio State and Oregon, is the new coordinator of football officials for the Mountain West Conference.
Burks has more than 30 years of on-field officiating experience in the Big 12 and Mountain West, including four Big 12 championships and 15 bowl games.
Burks began officiating in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 1990 and joined the Big Eight in 1992, which became the Big 12 in 1996. Most recently, he served as a referee in the CFO West, working games in the Mountain West, Big 12 and Southland conferences.
Burks is a native of Colorado Springs and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado.
