RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada gas prices have dropped more than a half dollar in the past month and are nearly a dollar cheaper than a year ago. Triple A Nevada said in its monthly gas survey released Tuesday the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.33. That's 53 cents cheaper than the last survey issued December 9th.
SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County school officials have confirmed an electronic cigarette was to blame for a small explosion that forced the partial evacuation of Sparks High School. Principal Kevin Carroll says school officials called police about 10:15 a.m. Monday after a teacher saw fire spark in the school gym. The Reno Gazette-Journal says no one was hurt, but about 150 students were evacuated from inside the gym and a lockdown was ordered for about 90 minutes.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Highway Patrol says a 58-year-old Nye County woman died of injuries she received last Wednesday as the wrong-way driver in a crash on State Highway 160 west of Las Vegas. NHP Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel says Julia Shoup of Pahrump died Saturday at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County coroner is investigating the cause of death after a 3-year-old boy who died at an economy hotel in Las Vegas this morning. The coroner identifies the child found at the Budget Suites extended stay motel on Rancho Drive as Kameron Watts of Las Vegas.
