Wes McGuire's weight loss journey began in September 2013 when he took his daughter Avah to Lagoon. Problem was, at more than 390 pounds, he was too big to fit on one of the rides. As everyone else was strapped in, he says he took the "walk of shame" to the exit. That day did it, though. Wes sought out a doctor and with help of a meal plan backed by the Mayo Clinic, he began loosing weight. His approach? A calorie count of whole foods,no processed foods and no sugar. Wes kept his calories under 15-hundred.Then, he began to exercise. Walking at first, then running.Even building up to 5ks. He says he ran into a wall about three months in -- wanted to give up on his diet, but didn't. He's now lost nearly 200 pounds through sheer determination, And that determination has spread to family members who are on board to get healthy too. And his daughter even practicing the good eating habits her father is. Wes says his doctor told him -- he's added 10 years to his life by changing it.
