NEW YORK CITY (AP) — Joel Hernandez scored all seven Long Island-Brooklyn points in the second period to lift the Blackbirds to an 82-81 Northeast Conference victory over Sacred Heart Thursday night.
Nura Zanna hit the second of two free throws with :22 left in regulation to tie the game at 70-70 and force the first overtime, and Hernandez hit a pair of free throws with :47 left in the first overtime to tie the game at 75-75 and force a second overtime.
Elvar Fridriksson scored 18 points to lead LIU Brooklyn (5-9, 1-2 NEC) while Hernandez scored nine of his 14 points in added time. The Blackbirds shot 35.3 from the field but were 11 of 27 from behind the arc and 23 of 32 from the free throw line.
Evan Kelley scored 17 points and Cane Broome added 16 to lead Sacred Heart (7-9, 1-2), which shot 33 of 83 from the field.
