ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Wild left wing Zach Parise has been designated as a non-roster player to give him time to grieve after his father's death.

J.P. Parise died Wednesday of lung cancer.

Zach Parise was expected to be out Thursday night when the Wild played Chicago. The move allowed the team to recall defenseman Jonathan Blum, goalie John Curry and right wing Jordan Schroeder from the Iowa Wild of the AHL in time for the game.

Goalie Darcy Kuemper was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. He's expected to be out at least a week. Defenseman Marco Scandella was out against the Blackhawks because of an upper-body injury.

Defenseman Stu Bickel was placed on waivers.
