COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Joe Saunders scattered three hits over seven innings while walking three and striking out five as the Salt Lake Bees shut out the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 5-to-nothing last night in Colorado. The Bees scored three runs in the sixth. Mike Eylward doubled and scored on a single by Casey Smith, who scored on a home run by Ryan Budde. In the seventh, Curtis Pride singled and scored on a home run by Howie Kendrick -- his eleventh of the season.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- After eight and one-half scoreless innings, Idaho Falls shortstop Eduardo Nunez doubled and scored on a ground out by Marc Maddox to give the host Chuckars a 1-to-nothing victory over the visiting Ogden Raptors. Everett Teaford got the win, giving up two hits and one walk over the last three innings. Juan Rivera went 3-for-4 for the Raptors.
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) -- Tyler Johnson went 2-for-4 with one run batted in as the Orem Owlz beat the Rockies 3-to-2 last night at Casper. Ogden starter Anthony Ortega picked up the win, giving up four hits and one run while walking none and striking out seven over seven innings. Both Casper runs were unearned. The Owlz are now 5-and-2 and tied with Idaho Falls for the lead in the Pioneer League Southern Division.
