SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Idaho panhandle and eastern part of Washington. Forecasters say as much as 11 inches of snow was expected in the valleys before it changes to rain tomorrow. Up to 2 feet of snow were expected in the panhandle.
SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — The bankruptcy of national clothing retailer Coldwater Creek last spring posed a serious challenge to the northern Idaho city of Sandpoint, as more than 300 jobs vanished. But The Spokesman-Review reports that the community is getting a second wind — thanks to former workers who started or joined new firms. CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — More visitors to Yellowstone National Park are being cited for possessing small amounts of medical and recreational pot. Rangers say many visitors from states where medical pot in particular is legal don't realize it's still off-limits on federal land. The U.S. attorney's office in Cheyenne says it prosecuted 52 marijuana cases from Yellowstone in 2013 and, as of mid-December, 80 cases in 2014.
KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — Flathead County officials are probing whether a fire that damaged the Majestic Valley Arena was arson. The Daily Inter Lake reports the arena caught fire Saturday. The fire damaged office space in the 55,750-square-foot arena about 6 miles north of Kalispell. The fire caused the cancellation of a Wrangler Team Roping Championships event that would have hosted 600 to 700 teams Saturday.
