BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The city of Boise has sent a cease-and-desist order to Uber, saying it has concerns about safety. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that the online transportation company responded to the order by saying the service is safe and reliable. The city claims Uber started charging passengers this week without an operating agreement in place. The Press-Tribune says Uber has been in negotiations with the city and had agreed to avoid charging until talks were complete.

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — Strong migration helped Idaho to its largest population gain since before the Great Recession. U.S. Census Bureau figures released this week show Idaho's population was up more than 1.3 percent during 2014. That's the ninth strongest growth in the nation, and Idaho's strongest since 2008.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say a Pocatello man tried to assault an emergency room doctor. Police initially arrested the 64-year-old man at a doctor's office because of an outstanding warrant. The Idaho State Journal reports that because he uses a wheelchair, he was taken to the emergency room to be evaluated before being booked into jail. Authorities say he assaulted the attending physician during an examination.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A Bannock County prosecutor says he'll review autopsy and police reports, and speak with the family of a 5-year-old victim of an accidental shooting before deciding whether to file any criminal charges. Noelle Shawver, of Blackfoot, was killed July 30 when another 5-year-old found a firearm and shot her. She died later that day.
