SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah man is facing a murder charge after a fatal shooting that police said stemmed from a drug deal in downtown Salt Lake City.
Prosecutors say in charges filed Tuesday that 31-year-old Richard Michael Warner of West Valley City shot Zelaya Zuniga in the neck on Dec. 19.
Police say it happened after Warner and a friend drove up to Zuniga looking to buy drugs.
Warner got out of the car and paced while his 29-year-old friend in the driver's seat talked with Zuniga through the window.
Charging documents allege Warner walked up to Zuniga and shot him.
Prosecutors say the pair fled and Warner threw the gun in the Jordan River. They were arrested two days later.
No attorney was immediately listed for Warner in court records.
