NEW ORLEANS (AP) — So how many nicknames does Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones have?
"I think I have a different nickname from every player on the team," Jones said Tuesday in New Orleans, where Ohio State is preparing to play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day. "No exaggeration."
Here's just a few.
12. 12 Gauge. Air Dale. Sky 12. Dizzle. Diz. Dozer. Car 12. Dale 12. Dolo Dale.
How does he keep up with them all?
"If it sounds something like Dale or Cardale or 12, I just turn around and say, 'Huh?'"
Does anyone call him by his actual name?
"Coach Herman, sometimes," Jones said, referring to offensive coordinator Tom Herman. "He calls me Cardale when he's mad at me."
