SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah lawmaker wants to ban the sale of powdered alcohol before it wins approval from a federal agency and possibly makes its way to Utah liquor stores. State Rep. Steve Eliason, a Sandy Republican, says "Palcohol" could be added to food and other products, making it difficult to keep out of the hands of children. The National Conference of State Legislatures says six states have already banned it.
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Authorities say they've found a 48-year-old snowmobiler who had been missing in northern Utah since Saturday. Cache County sheriff's Lt. Doyle Peck says Arizona resident Lawrence Orduno was found alive a little before 10 this morning. Peck says the man was cold but otherwise seemed to be OK.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says two minor earthquakes of 3.7 magnitude and 3.2 magnitude hit central Utah late last night about 8 miles southwest of Nephi. The shakes were felt in Nephi but it isn't clear if any damage or injuries were reported. Nephi resident Travis Worwood says he felt the quakes just before going to bed and each lasted for 15 to 20 seconds.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah wildlife officials say a coyote hunter accidentally shot and killed a gray wolf in southwest Utah near the city of Beaver over the weekend. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources the hunter was in the Tushar Mountains yesterday and mistook the wolf for a coyote. It's unclear what penalties the hunter could face.
