"We are outside, we are very cold, the ship is full of smoke." — Giorgos Stiliaras, one of more than 200 passengers awaiting rescue from a burning ferry adrift in rough seas between Italy and Albania.
"There was no warning at all. It was absolutely quiet. ... (The shark) came straight up out of the depths and got him and took him under the water." — Andrew Walsh, who saw a shark attack his friend off the Central California coast. The victim suffered cuts to his right hip.
