SAN DIEGO (AP) — Thomas Jacobs scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds on Sunday to help lead San Diego to a 71-61 win over San Diego Christian.
The Toreros (7-5) never trailed and outrebounded the Hawks, a NAIA member, 44-27.
Jito Kok and Chris Sarbaugh each scored 12 and Brandon Perry added 10 for San Diego.
The Toreros opened with a 14-3 run in which senior guard Johnny Dee scored five of his eight points and led 43-22 at halftime.
Dee came in with 1,745 career points and needs 38 more to move ahead of Brandon Johnson (1,790) to top San Diego's all-time scoring list.
The Hawks (5-6) outscored the Toreros 39-28 in the second half, and pulled to within 10 points, 66-56, on two free throws by Michael Lambert with 2:39 to play, but got no closer.
Derrick Thompson led the Hawks with 15, Peter Beale-Wirsing had 14 and Daniel Nelson 12.
