SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police are searching for two suspects in the shooting death of a man in Salt Lake City. Police say a passenger exited from a car and began talking to the victim on a sidewalk Friday afternoon. The passenger pulled out a handgun a few moments later and fatally shot the man. The passenger and driver then fled in the car.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Demonstrators blocked streets and freeway ramps in Salt Lake City to protest what it called "police brutality." With traffic backed up behind them, about 40 people marched on downtown streets Friday night. The group then blocked at least two ramps leading to and from interstates 15 and 80. No arrests or injuries were reported.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah are considering new ways to deal with cows that become stuck in slot canyons. A cow became trapped in Peek-a-Boo Canyon this month. Monument officials told The Salt Lake Tribune that ranch hands killed the cow and cut off its head and front quarters, but the rear half remained wedged. The carcass was set on fire, and rocky debris crashed down.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 36-year-old man has been charged with automobile homicide in a cyclist's death in South Salt Lake. Peter Wilcox of Salt Lake City was charged Thursday in the death of 50-year-old Mitchell Bennett. Wilcox is accused of hitting Bennett on Sept. 25. Investigators say Wilcox had a blood-alcohol content three times the legal limit.
