LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Jaylin Airington scored 20 points with 8 of 10 shooting as Cal State Bakersfield broke away in the second half to defeat Idaho State 59-50 at the finale of the round-robin World Vision Classic Saturday night.
Airington and Javonte Maynor ended the first half with back-to-back 3-pointers as the Roadrunners led 32-29 at the break. Airington opened the second half with a four-point play, then a 3-pointer and a jumper as Bakersfield (2-10) powered away 13-3.
Idaho State came as close as 48-45 on a 7-2 run with 7:37 left, but didn't score again for 6:30.
Brent Wrapp —who fed Airington and Maynor on the key 3-pointers — picked off two defensive boards, had a layup, two foul shots and a steal in the last 2:48.
Chris Hansen led Idaho State (3-8) with nine points, all in the first half, but reached 1,003 career, the 20th Bengal to surpass that plateau.
