SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah judge has finally appointed a board of trustees to sort out the redistribution of more than 700 homes in a polygamous community on the Utah-Arizona border where Warren Jeffs' sect is based. The panel will have limited power, though. State Judge Denise Lindberg ruled yesterday the five-person board still must get final approval from the court when deciding who should get which homes.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Republican-controlled state health panel has rejected Gov. Gary Herbert's Medicaid expansion plan to enroll poor Utah residents in private health insurance. The voted by the Health Reform Task Force doesn't hinder the plan from moving forward during the upcoming legislative session but signals the Republican governor still has work to do to gain the support of Utah's GOP-controlled Legislature.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a woman was found shot in the head in her front yard in Sandy this morning, and a man who lives with her was arrested. Sandy police Sgt. Dean Carriger says the woman is in critical condition and investigators are questioning the suspected shooter.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say they've arrested a woman suspected of leaving two disabled men under her care in filthy conditions. Authorities say the woman was drunk when officers came to the house in Cottonwood Heights last night. Police Lt. Mark Askerlund says officers found trash, human and animal feces, food and boxes scattered through the house. He called the conditions filthy and deplorable.
