SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church says it's too soon to say if it will start sending missionaries to Cuba as the United States begins re-establishing diplomatic ties with the communist island. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently has a few congregations in Cuba but does not send missionaries there.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Department of Environmental Quality is enacting some burning restrictions today to minimize air pollution. Open fires and burning in wood fireplaces and other solid fuel devices are barred in Salt Lake, Davis and Weber Counties. Residents in five other counties are asked to voluntarily avoid burning and reduce car travel.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 12-year-old girl was killed when a gun discharged as a younger sibling took it from her father's pants pocket. Kaysville police say they are investigating and plan to forward the findings to the county attorney, but they are labeling the shooting an accident. The incident occurred at the family home Nov. 23.

MIAMI (AP) — The Utah Jazz overcame 42 points from Dwyane Wade to beat the Miami Heat 105-87 in Florida last night. Gordon Hayward scored 29 points and Enes Kanter added 18. The Jazz won for just the second time in its last 14 games
