SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 34-year-old electrician is pleading guilty to setting a fire at an unfinished Salt Lake City apartment building. In exchange, prosecutors are recommending that a judge sentence Dustin Bowman of Bountiful to two years in prison and pay about $3 million in restitution. No one was injured in the Feb. 9 fire.

PROVO, Utah (AP) — A judge is postponing sentencing for an Orem man convicted in his wife's 2012 death to hear arguments about a quote from the movie "Dumb and Dumber." A prosecutor made the reference during the trial of Conrad Truman and the defense says it was a personal attack. Relatives of the victim, Heidy Truman, say their disappointed in the delay.

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A 29-year-old Logan man will serve 30 days in jail and 30 days of house arrest for chaining his 7-year-old son to a bed while he was at work. The Herald Journal reports that the judge insisted on jail time despite a recommendation from prosecutors that the father only serve house arrest. The Associated Press is withholding the father's name to avoid identifying the child, who is in foster care.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Salt Lake City police have arrested a 33-year-old man they say broke into a downtown theater and tried to kidnap a 12-year-old actress. Police say the girl ran when she was confronted by a man with a knife backstage Saturday night. Police say the man ran and officers arrested Adam Green outside a nearby restaurant.
