FALLON, Nev. (AP) — A Churchill County man shot and killed a mountain lion after it attacked some ducks on his property.
Nevada Department of Wildlife spokesman Chris Healy says the 110-pound, 4-year-old male was killed Thursday night southwest of Fallon.
He told the Nevada Appeal (http://bit.ly/1wtpgQl ) a test showed it was not the same cougar that harassed some goats west of Fallon early this month.
Healy says that cat fled after being shot in the rear by a sheriff's deputy and its fate is unknown.
Healy says the drought could be prompting mountain lions to roam the Carson River corridor around Fallon in search of food.
He says the Lahontan Valley around Fallon probably is home to five or fewer mountain lions.
