LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a man found dead by a police SWAT team inside a Las Vegas Strip hotel room as 57-year-old Scott Allan Williams of Greenville, Texas.

The Clark County coroner said Friday that Williams died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. His death was ruled a suicide.

Las Vegas police were called about 3 a.m. Wednesday to a report of an armed man threatening suicide in a room at the MGM Grand hotel-casino.

Several nearby hotel rooms were evacuated and crisis negotiators tried to contact the man before the SWAT team entered after 8 a.m.
