WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says there are provisions in the massive spending bill in Congress that he doesn't like but says it is "by definition a compromise" and hopes it will pass the Senate.
He says the $1.1 trillion bill that finances government through next September "allows us to build on the economic progress and the national security progress that's important."
Obama spoke at the beginning of a meeting with national security and public health advisers who were giving him an update on the U.S. response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
The House narrowly passed the spending bill Thursday. A majority of House Democrats opposed it.
