SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A storm that's expected to be one of the windiest and rainiest in years is pushing across parts of Northern California. Schools canceled classes, and residents stocked up on supplies. Moderate rain and gusty winds hit the area north of San Francisco, with heavier rain expected in the coming hours across the region.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are higher as the market bounces back from its biggest drop since October. Oil prices slid again yesterday, taking stocks along for the ride. This, after an OPEC report that projected that demand for its crude would sink next year to levels that haven't been seen in a decade.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Fewer people have been filing for unemployment. The government says weekly applications fell by 3,000 last week, as the continued low level of applicants reflects growing job security.

LONDON (AP) — Swiss researchers have suspended the testing of one of the leading Ebola vaccine candidates after some volunteers reported unexpected side effects. The researchers say the trial has been suspended "as a precautionary measure." The study involving 59 people began in November. Researchers reported four cases of mild joint pain in the hands and feet in people who got the shot 10 to 15 days earlier. The trial is scheduled to resume in January in Geneva.

NEW YORK (AP) — "Birdman" is the leading nominee for Golden Globe awards -- including a bid for best comedy or musical. "Boyhood" and "The Imitation Game" have five nominations each. They are in a best-drama category that also includes "Foxcatcher," ''Selma" and "The Theory of Everything."
