LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police who brought a SWAT team and crisis negotiators to the MGM Grand resort after reports of an armed and suicidal man say the person has killed himself.

Las Vegas police say they were called to the hotel room at about 3 a.m. Wednesday and attempted to make contact with the man, but didn't enter the room until about 9 a.m.

Police say the man was the only one in the hotel room, and he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Details about his identity weren't immediately available.

Numerous police vehicles were parked outside of the Las Vegas Strip resort early Wednesday during the response. Several hotel rooms were evacuated as a precaution.
