PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Federal officials are rounding up burros in southern Nevada's Pahrump Valley after at least five of them were killed or gravely injured by cars in the past few years. The BLM says it plans to keep bait corrals in place for several days to several months to gather 30-40 burros, which will later be up for adoption.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a casino robbery suspect was killed by an officer yesterday inside a Las Vegas resort after he failed to comply with their commands. Capt. Matt McCarthy says the man was shot at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. McCarthy says an officer fired when the man reached for his waist. A gun was found on the man.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority has hired a consultant to analyze efforts to attract tourists and map out a five-year plan to better promote Reno-Tahoe as a vacation destination. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the firm will report in January with details on the project's size and scope. It's expected to take six months.
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — A Bullhead City, Arizona, police sergeant has pleaded not guilty in one of two cases where he is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Nevada. The Mohave Valley Daily News reports that Jesse Hoag entered the plea on two counts of sexual assault. Coconino County prosecutors say the officer assaulted two women in October.
