COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Police say a University of Maryland student has been sexually assaulted in an apartment building near campus.

Prince George's County police say the student was at a gathering early Sunday morning in a College Park apartment when a man followed her into a room and closed the door behind him. The student says the man put his hand over her mouth and ordered her to stay quiet.

The student says she then bit his hand and that the man then slapped her face, and then sexually assaulted her as he continued to slap her.

The student says the man was scared off when someone else walked into the room, and that she was able to run back to her residence.

Police are looking for the attacker.
