Hunger is an unfortunate reality for many in Utah. Stepping up to help those in need is a local organization called Share, Incorporated in Weber County. They are an emergency food delivery service that supplies food to families and individuals in crisis situations. The delivery of food to homes caters to the elderly, disabled, and families with small children who do not have transportation or the financial ability to provide for their families. Most of the packaged and canned food comes from drives and donations from local churches, businesses, schools, and individuals. In addition, staples like meat, eggs, cheese, and bread are purchased. These bags of groceries have been evaluated nutritionally and are adjusted based on family size to provide balanced meals for a period of four to six days. Last year, Share, Incorporated delivered food to 649 families with help from more than 35 drivers, baggers, and warehouse volunteers. SelectHealth recognizes the vital role of Share, Incorporated as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
