ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police say a 17-year-old has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the bludgeoning death of a Bosnian immigrant.
KMOV-TV (http://bit.ly/1CzLsge ) reports Robert Mitchell was charged in the death of 32-year-old Zemir Begic early Sunday. Online court records didn't indicate whether he had an attorney.
Police told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/11L9cwY ) that Begic was beaten to death with hammers after he and the Mitchell exchanged words as Begic was walking to his car. Police say someone hit Begic's car or kicked it, causing Begic to stop, get out of the vehicle and exchange more words with the suspects before they attacked him.
Mitchell turned himself in late Sunday after 15- and 16-year-old suspects were taken into custody.
