BALTIMORE, Jun 23, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Actress Mo'nique returns to the Oxygen network with the second annual "F.A.T. Chance" full-figured beauty competition.
She was interviewed when the pageant held auditions in her hometown of Baltimore, Entertainment Tonight said Friday.
"It is wonderful to be in Baltimore," she said. "This is home. These women look at me like, 'Mo'Nique, you are so special.' I am just a fat girl from Baltimore, baby. I just believed I could. That is all. This is where it all started."
She said that her hometown and the people there were the reason that she has made it as far as she has, inspiring her to do this pageant.
"The reason I am doing another one of these is, don't they do Miss America every year?" she points out. "And Miss Universe and all of those? No one ever says, 'Why are you doing those?' It is just expected. This is expected. Most of the women in the world look like me, so why not do it every year? We are going to do it every single year until television goes away."
