MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a 20-year-old Linfield College student from Washington state was fatally stabbed Saturday in a convenience store near campus, and police shot and killed the suspect when he returned to the scene.
Linfield College president Thomas Hellie identified the victim as Parker Moore, a Woodinville, Washington, native who was majoring in business management. Moore was a resident adviser and played on the football team.
The stabbing happened after 11 p.m. Saturday at a 7-Eleven. A motive wasn't clear. Moore, a sophomore, was flown to Oregon Health and Science University, where he died.
The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office says that while investigators were at the scene, the suspect returned, brandished a knife and confronted officers, who shot him.
Yamhill County Sheriff's Capt. Tim Svenson says investigators don't believe two knew each other.
