NEW YORK (AP) — Dynamic Sky won the $250,000 Red Smith Handicap on Saturday with a bold inside move at Aqueduct.

With Cornelio Velasquez aboard, the 4-year-old colt surged through an opening on the fence in mid-stretch to capture the last major grass stakes of the year in New York. They held off Big Blue Kitten, the 4-5 favorite, by 1 1/4 lengths.

The time was 2:18.85 for the 1 3/8 miles on the yielding course.

It was the first turf win in six tries for the colt based at Woodbine with trainer Mark Casse. He earned $150,000 for owner John Oxley.

Dynamic Sky, bred in Ontario, paid $14.20, $4.90 and $4.10. Big Blue Kitten returned $2.50 and $2.20 while Margano paid $12 to show.
