HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Dakarai Henderson scored 16 points and Michael Holyfield 14 to lead Sam Houston State to a 100-52 victory over Austin in the Bearkats' opener Friday.

Holyfield added five of the Bearkats' 10 blocks. He also grabbed eight rebounds as did teammate DeMarcus Gatlin. Sean Goodwin contributed 11 points and Jabari Peters 10. Kaheem Ransom had 10 assists.

Peters scored the game's first points with a 3-pointer at the 18:29 mark and the Bearkats took off from there, leading 55-22 by halftime.

The Division III Kangeroos didn't score until 15:40 of the first quarter on Kevin Graham's 3-pointer. Graham scored 15 points with Andres Rivera adding 12 and Alan Sullivan 10.

The Bearkats hit 36 of 68 shots for 52.9 percent and dominated the boards 54-32. They held the Kangeroos to just 25.9 percent from the floor on 15-of-58 shooting. The Bearkats went to the line 35 times, making 21.
