TORONTO (AP) — Canada's Conservative government says it's suspending visa applications for residents and nationals of countries with "widespread and persistent-intense transmission" of the Ebola virus. With Friday's decision, Canada joins Australia in suspending entry visas for people from Ebola-stricken countries in West Africa in an attempt to keep the deadly disease away.

MOJAVE, Calif. (AP) — A winged spaceship designed to take tourists on excursions beyond Earth's atmosphere broke up during a test flight Friday over the Mojave Desert, killing a pilot in the second fiery setback for commercial space travel in less than a week. A photographer who witnessed the event says that Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo blew apart after being released from a carrier aircraft at high altitude.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police in Southern California are seeking two men from an SUV that struck three teenage girls trick-or-treating in Halloween costumes. Police and fire officials say the girls were at a crosswalk at an intersection near an elementary school when the vehicle with two men inside hit them in the early evening Friday.

MOUNTAINHOME, Pa. (AP) — U.S. marshals who captured a survivalist wanted in the ambush slaying of a Pennsylvania State Police trooper say they took him by surprise. The marshals described how they acted on a hunch in locating and apprehending Eric Frein (freen), who's charged with killing Cpl. Bryon Dickson and critically wounding another trooper in the Sept. 12 attack.

PAHOA, Hawaii (AP) — Two Hawaii residents have been arrested for trespassing to see lava. Police on the Big Island say officers saw a man and a woman cross private property and take photos within 5 feet of the lava in the small town of Pahoa. Officials say the public's access to the lava flow is restricted to keep people safe.
