LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada is marking its 150th anniversary of statehood today with ceremonies and parades. Festivities kicked off in Las Vegas with a fly-over by Nevada Army Guard helicopters and a big inflatable helium birthday cake at the head of a parade that featured Gov. Brian Sandoval. Another parade will take place tomorrow in Carson City.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden is making a pre-election visit to Las Vegas, to appear with actress Eva Longoria at a weekend rally aimed at getting Hispanic voters to the polls on Tuesday. The get-out-the vote event Saturday afternoon at a union hall aims to counter tallies showing nearly 23,000 more Republicans than Democrats have been to early-voting sites as of this morning.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say two teenagers were injured early today when the fell from the hood of a moving car. Police say 19-year-old Jesus Orozco of Las Vegas and 18-year-old Luis Mendoza of North Las Vegas are hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the car is being held at the Clark County Jail.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in connection with a deadly Reno accident this week. Police say a 21-year-old woman died after a car in which she was a passenger was struck by a speeding car at an intersection late Wednesday night. The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital.
