STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma State University has announced plans for a new $60 million performing arts center to be built on campus.
OSU President Burns Hargis announced plans Thursday for the new center, which will also serve as home for the Department of Music. The university says the new center will host traveling stage productions as well as operas, orchestra and other musical performances by students.
The building will be located at the corner of University Avenue and Hester Street on the south side of the Stillwater campus. It will feature an 1,100-seat performance hall, a 222-seat recital hall, rehearsal spaces, practice rooms and an outdoor amphitheater. A new parking garage will also be built.
OSU says more than $16 million has been raised so far for the project.
