MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Marysville-Pilchuck High School is closed this week because of Friday's fatal shooting and other schools in the district are operating with an enhanced police presence.

The Marysville police department says officers will be assigned to secondary schools and will drop in to visit elementary schools.

Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux (LAM'-or-oh) says "our mission moving forward will be to focus our efforts on making students and staff feel as safe as we possibly can for their return to classes."
