SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The fourth game of the World Series is this evening in San Francisco. American League champion Kansas City has won the last two games in the series to take a 2-1 lead. On the mound for the Giants is Ryan Vogelsong against Jason Vargas.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Mississippi State, the top team in the AP Top-25 poll, is on the road today for a game with Kentucky. State is unbeaten after six games this season while the home standing Wildcats are 5-2

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Third-ranked and undefeated Mississippi is on the road tonight for a game with 24th-ranked LSU. Ole' Miss is 7-0 on the season while LSU checks in at 6-2.

SAN JOSE (AP) — There's one day game in the NHL and it is being played in San Jose. The Sharks are playing host to the Buffalo Sabres. San Jose is coming off a last-minute 5-4 loss to Columbus two nights ago.

SOELDEN, Austria (AP) — American teenager Mikaela (mih-KAY'-luh) Shiffrin has started off the World Cup season with a good showing in a giant-slalom race in Austria. As a matter of fact she and Anna Fenninger of Austria shared the win. Shiffrin, who led after the first run, and the defending overall champion both finished in a two-run combined time of 2 minutes, 39.85 seconds.
