This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is one of the Food Network's most popular shows. So, when Guy Fieri comes to town, it's because people are bragging on the place he's there to visit, which is what happened with Silver Star Café in Park City.
Owners Jeff and Lisa Ward say following their appearance on the show last spring, they've had a steady influx of new business comprised of Park City locals and visitors alike, all eager to try what Silver Star Café offers. That's helping this Park City local favorite grow their customer base. Lisa says because of the location away from the main traffic area on Historic Main Street, it's become true destination dining.
Silver Star Café offers a focus on American regional cuisine, or home style cooking with a Western influence. That means their culinary team creates dishes representing different regions of the United States. One of the favorites is Pork Osso Bucco, a braised pork shank with chipotle grits, roasted tomatillo broth, queso fresco and fresh cilantro. The pork gives this traditionally veal dish a southwestern twist. Or there's Vegetarian Mushroom Stroganoff, meant as substitute for beef, complete with Portobello and shiitake mushrooms over house-made spaetzle.
For Jeff and Lisa, the restaurant business is truly in their blood. After all, they met waiting tables in the mid 80s while working at Stein Eriksen. While Jeff stayed in the restaurant management business in Park City, Lisa went into communications, running her own communications company for 20 years. But later circumstances shifted, and they opened Silver Star Café four years ago.
At Silver Star Café they have a vibrant live music offering all year-round. They work with many musical artists, some from Park City, others from around Utah and some national artists. This includes a wide selection of music, from all jazz to bluegrass, folk or blues, to fit with the theme of Silver Star Cafe. In the summertime the music shows are held outside on their patio but in the wintertime, the small inside stage gives an intimate and cozy experience for guests to enjoy.
