LAS VEGAS (AP) — A group fighting to keep Nevada's state ban on same-sex marriage is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate a short-lived ruling that blocked weddings from taking place. Coalition for the Protection of Marriage attorney Monte Neil Stewart says he filed a request for Justice Anthony Kennedy to reinstate a stay this afternoon.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County District Attorney's Office has ruled that Las Vegas police were justified in fatally shooting a 26-year-old man in December. District Attorney Steve Wolfson said officers faced a real threat when they encountered Patrick Heki. Wolfson said Heki was "long-troubled" person and called his death a tragedy.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Police are investigating after a fatal stabbing in a Reno park. Reno Police say the man was stabbed last night in Mayors Park, off Stead Boulevard. Police say there weren't any immediate arrests.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's demographer projects the state will have nearly 35,000 more residents in the year 2032 than it would have if it hadn't landed the Tesla Motors battery factory and another major business. State demographer Jeff Hardcastle released updated figures today predicting that the state will have 3.3 million people in 18 years.
