WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — Six police dogs in West Valley City are getting new bulletproof vests after an Internet campaign raised more than $335,000 for the gear.
West Valley City police say the money was collected in $10 contributions through Groupon Grassroots, a philanthropic version of the discount website Groupon.
The campaign ran in February and March this year.
In addition to the West Valley City K9s, the program raised money to buy vests for more than 350 police dogs around the country.
