MLS fines 2 players, Real Salt Lake coach

NEW YORK (AP) — Sporting KC defender Igor Juliao and Colorado Rapids midfielder Carlos Alvarez have been fined undisclosed amounts by Major League Soccer.

Juliao was sanctioned for striking an opponent in the head with an open hand against the New England Revolution on Friday night. Alvarez was fined for coming onto the field as a substitute to celebrate a goal against the Earthquakes on Saturday.

Also, Real Salt Lake coach Jeff Cassar was fined for improper bench behavior in the 90th minute against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sept. 27.
