KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) — A central Idaho communications building destroyed by a fire at the ski area on Bald Mountain has been replaced.
The Idaho Mountain Express reports (http://bit.ly/YNfeM7) that Sun Valley Co. and local builders announced late last week the completion of a new communications building that provides cellphone service to parts of Ketchum and areas to the north.
Sun Valley Co. spokesman Jack Sibbach says the Flying Squirrel Communications Building supports four major carriers, including AT&T and Verizon.
Fire investigators say a malfunctioning compressor that's part of a snowmaking system caused the Feb. 1 fire that destroyed the top terminal of a rarely used chairlift as well as the communications building.
Officials didn't release the cost of the new building.
