PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say they're investigating the death of a 27-year-old California woman who was found dead in the Nevada desert as a homicide.
Nye County Detective Joe McGill said two ATV riders found the body of Los Osos, California resident Margay Edwards on Thursday near a dirt track outside of Pahrump. Clark County coroner's officials haven't released a cause of death.
McGill didn't say whether investigators have suspects or people of interest in the case.
Authorities are still looking for Edwards' cellphone and blue 2014 Hyundai Accent.
Sheriff Tony DeMeo told KEYT-TV in Santa Barbara that Edwards had been staying in a hotel in Las Vegas, and it was unclear whether she was alone or with friends. He said her family most recently contacted her in the second week of September.
