LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada jury has found two men who were accused of posing as Mormon missionaries guilty of kidnapping and armed robbery in a case that could get them life in prison for a violent Las Vegas home break-in. Abraham Austin Jr. and Robert Estall II used to serve in the Air Force together. Austin and Estall are due for sentencing Dec. 4.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Taxable sales in Nevada jumped 6.3 percent in July over the same month a year ago, with big gains in restaurants, bars and electronics sales. Sales in Clark County shot up 8.8 percent to $2.9 billion. Washoe County posted gains of 6.5 percent, for total sales of $563 million.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police in Las Vegas are making a public plea for help to find the killer of a 16-year old high school student who was shot multiple times as he sat with family members in a car at a busy intersection more than a week ago. Investigators think Jose Duran-Hernandez was an innocent victim and his slaying was a random act.
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say one person is dead after a fire in an apartment complex in Henderson. Firefighters reported smoke coming from a second-story window. Crews who were investigating found one person dead in the second-floor unit. The person's name, gender and age haven't yet been released.
