MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Roma's Francesco Totti became the oldest player to score a Champions League goal when the 38-year-old Italian tied Tuesday night's game against Manchester City.
Totti broke the record held by former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs, who was 37 years, 9 months when he scored against Benfica in September 2011. Totti turned 38 on Saturday.
Totti ran onto a pass from Radja Nainggolan and clipped a superb finish over goalkeeper Joe Hart in the 23rd minute for his first goal in in England. The goal made it 1-1.
