COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man has died after his vehicle went off U.S. Highway 95 and into the Salmon River.

The Idaho State Police say 77-year-old John P. Wilson of Kooskia was northbound when his Ford Taurus crossed the centerline and went off the left shoulder at about 9 a.m. Sunday.

The vehicle went down an embankment and into the river near the town of Lucille.

Police say Wilson died at the scene.
