WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota State College of Science has suspended football coach Merle Johnson indefinitely.

The school made the move after reporting rules violations to the National Junior College Athletic Association. Officials say in a statement that the violations had to do with ineligible players.

The Daily News of Wahpeton reports that Science might have to forfeit three victories. The team is 5-0 on the season.

Defensive coordinator Eric Francis has been named interim head coach in Johnson's absence.
