HOUSTON (AP) — Parker McKenzie threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns, Herschel Sims ran for 128 yards and three scores and Abilene Christian beat Houston Baptist, 59-14, on Saturday night.
Cade Stone finished with seven receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns for Abilene Christian (3-2, 2-0 Southland Conference). Cedric Gilbert, who caught two touchdown passes, has at least one receiving touchdown in each game this season.
Houston Baptist (1-3, 0-1) forced a three-and-out on Abilene Christian's first possession and, on their second play from scrimmage, the Huskies took a 7-0 lead when Jonathan Fleming threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Kenneth Bibbins.
Abilene Christian responded, however, by scoring 31 straight points and took a 38-14 lead into the break.
Darian Lazard had three receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown for Houston Baptist, which had two turnovers and just 88 total yards after halftime.
